Judge’s Commentary: An intriguing opening of a soul preparing to come to Earth. We are drawn into the story from the start with this engaging premise. Author explains well that this soul is coming here to learn lessons, and there’s a purity and bravery of this soul to not choose the easy path. Well done.

We can relate to the lesson and challenge our own decisions on that theme. We sensed danger as she signed the financial forms, and author creates a deep sense of dread here, leading us to care and to experience the trepidation of this scenario unfolding. I would have liked to get more of a sense of setting in each scene, with sensory details to allow the reader to be fully present in the action.

We get excellent centering advice and we’re engaged in her lessons to let other people help her – again learning the lesson for ourselves. Dialogue is natural and engaging, and author has done well to differentiate the characters’ voices throughout. Author thus creates a nice layering of the story. Pace is for the most part natural and forward-moving. ‘This happiness appears sustainable’ is an example of some terrific phrasing here. We get a great wrap up with the spirit guide’s assertions at the end. Well done. Author has a nice instinct for creating tension and leading us through to resolution.
